Main Function:
The main function of Log Buckerman is to assist the Woodlands Scalers with their log scaling responsibilities. The Log Buckerman will mark and buck Tree-Length coniferous and deciduous sample loads to desired lengths. When not bucking sample loads, the Log Buckerman will assist Woodlands Scalers as needed (i.e. log measurements, log quality assessments, etc.).

Areas of Responsibility:
▪ Participate in required Staff and/or Contractor Safety and/or Environmental Training consistent with Canfor expectations and standards. Conduct all activities in accordance with Canfor’s Woodlands Occupational Health & Safety Program and Forest Management System (FMS);
▪ Ensure maintenance and proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (will be provided);
▪ Inspect and maintain chainsaw equipment, regular calibration of log measuring devices, and maintaining facilities according to Canfor standards;
▪ Ensure understanding of the required log lengths required for log scaling according to Canfor standards;
▪ Measure and mark Tree-Length (TL) Conifer (eg. Spruce, Pine, etc.) and Deciduous (e.g. Aspen, Poplar, etc.) sample loads according to Canfor procedures;
▪ Work with Woodlands Scalers to ensure safe bucking of Tree-Length (TL) Conifer and Deciduous sample loads while meeting production and quality objectives;

▪ Role-specific training to be provided by Canfor (on-site);

Qualification and Education Requirements

•              Proficient in valve installation, maintenance, repair, and modification procedures.

•              Knowledge of different types of valves, including gate valves, ball valves, globe valves, and check valves.

•              Understanding of valve components, materials, and their functionality.

•              Ability to disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble valves accurately.

•              Skilled in troubleshooting valve performance issues and implementing necessary repairs or adjustments.

•              Knowledge of valve testing methods, such as pressure testing and leak testing, to ensure proper functioning.

•              Experience in using valve maintenance tools and equipment, including:

• torque wrenches, pressure gauges, and valve actuation devices.

•              Familiarity with valve specifications, drawings, and technical documents to interpret and follow instructions.

•              Proficient in reading and interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

•              Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to valve installation and maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Framing, wood and steel stud,
  • Drywalling and mud tape
  • Setting formwork according to specifications, preparing granular base, finishing concrete to meet specifications using hand tools (bull float finish, broom finish, centre cuts)
  • Be willing to help in prepping.
  • Installing wooden structures such as roofing framers, joists, partitions, rafters, and stud work
  • Designing and installation of cabinets, shelves, drywall, insulation and any additional needs.
  • Adding fittings and fixtures including door handles, hinges, locks, and closures
  • Selecting lumber as per the requirements of the project and sourcing wood that fits within budget and meets style specifications.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Able to lift to 50lb on a regular basis.
  • Liaising with clients to discuss project details, budgets, and timelines.
  • Working with suppliers to obtain necessary material while staying within the customer budget.
  • Consulting other construction professionals to ensure the best possible results and the final product.
  • Eager and punctual individuals with the capability to work well with others.
  • Reading blueprints and designs prepared by other architects, construction professionals, and ensuring they meet building code recommendations and requirements.

Job Description:

Alexander Business Solutions is looking to fulfill the position of Project Coordinator.  This position will report to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator position will be field-based and located on a work site(s). This position will work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents and will be responsible for the coordination of all production requirements including but not limited to safety, quality, administration, scheduling, cost controls, client/sub-contractor/craft communication, and management.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the business to develop business case and feasibility studies for project intake.
